I love Natalie Dormer and Jimmi Simpson, so that helps. I appreciate that the actual core thesis of this film might be that patriarchy blocks societal progress while its contents focus on a biographical retelling of how scientific progress in our understanding of cancer was achieved, at a certain point in time. By no means is this a revolutionary film, but it also need not be. I was pleasantly surprised at the romantic undercurrent that the film architects but does not comment on until the credits have nearly arrived. Because I was most certainly rooting for Audrey and Dan (apologies to his ex-wife). The corporate politics of it all were also not lost on me. There is a Ronald McDonald house just a block away from where I saw this. Food for thought.
