Everything in this film is given consideration and that is almost immediately noticeable. I clocked my rating on this at maybe 10 minutes in and then just let myself enjoy the ride. Every moment had me jumping out of my seat or vocalizing into the void between me and the rest of the audience. Zoë Kravitz is clearly studied in her approach; a great joy of this film is catching all the references. From the visuals to the music, there is an abundance to chew on. Never mind how all these actors were assembled to bring together the story. Adria Arjona’s performance, in particular, was quite the standout. The one critique I have is that the trigger warning maybe needed to be given for more audiences; the excess of substance is critical to the movie, and enough to make one vomit, crave their next bender, or both. That said, I’m already dying to see this again. It’s safe to say that I was having a good time.
