There were so many opportunities for this to have a higher rating. I appreciated the plot complexity, but little ended up resolving well or being meaningful. That said, I think the story itself actually made up for a meh script and the acting definitely helped disguise the weak script as well. In many ways, this felt like Jurassic Park with monsters, which I loved, having seen none of the other entries in the franchise. The Skull King was sexy in the same way that Rat is sexy in Fantastic Mr. Fox and, sadly, suffered the same fate. RIP.
