What a ride. Blistering, hilarious, and often triggering, this film was like looking in the rearview mirror and seeing the culture I grew up in. The story is driven much more by what isn’t said than what it is, and it’s Regina Hall’s performance that drives it all home. I wonder if people from this type of church community have seen this and if they’re able to see the truth in the fiction.
