If there is one thing Willem Dafoe is gonna do, it’s deliver a captivating performance. However, his one in this film cannot save the film from seeming without point or import. What gravitas was built was surrendered in the last 30 seconds, the film’s ending cheating itself out of saying something to recall. A good film cannot simply evoke a mood and offer no commentary on said vibe.
