Weirdly, Austin Butler was the most interesting part of this. I can’t quite make sense of what Tarantino was trying to do here. For me, it just seems like a tired Western about the events leading up to a historic moment of infamy. However, the Manson Family isn’t even the focus of the film, so it winds up feeling ham-fisted and misdirected.
