I love an “illusion of choice” moment, but this was executed in a confusing manner. The stakes are where they should be, throughout, but unfortunately they’re never earned. It’s even brought up several times that these characters don’t know each other well enough for everything to be happening like this and they try to magic that away with the plot, but it doesn’t really work. And then they also just drop John Slattery’s character from the film halfway through. Apparently, I am trying to go through Emily Blunt’s entire filmography.
