The most interesting thing going on here is Jeremy Strong’s character study of Roy Cohn, which doesn’t say much considering its proximity to his portrayal of Kendall Roy that bleeds in more than once. The film itself cannot decide if it wants to be a biopic, a satire, or a satirical biopic. This is most reflected in the transition from Sebastian Stan’s 45 raping Ivana into the final act. The result is a muddled portrait of a would-be American president that frequently seems to glorify the poor behavior that has led to our poor reality as American citizens.
