I wasn’t expecting to like this one as much as I did and it honestly gave instant classic vibes. Maybe it’s my sentimentality for my private school days, maybe it’s the part of me that likes to be triggered by the same period in my life. My biggest problem with this film is that it falls into the contemporary trap of trying to shoehorn a historically excluded narrative, into a film that otherwise lacks diversity, via its B plot. It’s a terrible crime for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that it often outshines the main story. My one wish for this film is that it had just been about Da’Vine Joy Randolph’s Mary Lamb. l
