I wasn’t expecting a musical, but I love the exploration of ritual through sound and movement, as much as this film is also an exploration of religion and gender. Amanda Seyfried keeps turning in career best work and nobody is ever loud enough about it for me. Haunting and heart-wrenching, I’ll be thinking of this one for a while.
