D&D are back to prove they’re hungry after the much maligned last season of Game of Thrones. In the end, they’re only half successful. They know how to showrun and that’s clear, but the overall pacing of the show feels choppy. It’s unfortunate that this is the case for a work dealing so closely with temporal concepts. The acting is pretty alright, but the more compelling stories and performances are sadly relegated to backstory and B plot. I’m hoping they have enough slack either way Netflix to get to the point where the show is fully working and not just setting itself up. I’m reminded that it took me 3 seasons to finally get into Game of Thrones.
