It feels like they bit off more than they can chew at the script level. The plot might work, but the episode by episode focus is lacking and makes it hard to get invested, especially mid-season. What starts strong and what should’ve ended strong is soured by the mediocre middle. Looks beautiful, though (and I’m talking about Lee Pace).

This show is finally cooking with gas! The first season felt like such a slog, compared to this one. I appreciate how they simplified the lexicon of the world a bit and made the events more legible on a first watch than they were in season one. Lee Pace is still very attractive, but it’s really Dini Fetscher that needs to give me a call — whew!
