The beginning of this season was a big enough roar that a new fan base came into being, seemingly overnight. I was a huge fan of Rishi’s episode and the character arcs for Rob, Yasmin, and Harper (in that order). Unfortunately, the last few episodes seem to lose themselves to a season 4 setup, rather than being mindful of their own season’s world. The time jump and sapped urgency feel confusingly placed, given the otherwise breakneck pace of the season. I am curious about how this show traverses its own geography, though. Narratives seem to be more interwoven between seasons than on first glance, and it may be the case that this season is better than I thought in a more contextualized viewing.

Ultimately, I think this season was extremely successful at both breaking the mould of prior seasons and delivering on the continued promise of the show’s core thesis. On the one hand, a crime thriller; on the other, a class war drama. Even the notion of finance is reduced to setting over its more typical plot-driving role. And in that, we deepen our relationship with so many characters we love (read: Sweetpea). That ending, knowing the next season is the last? Chilling. My stocks have always been invested specifically in Harper Stearn, is what I’ll say.

We are so back! Already loving this season’s angle on morality and money. Also loved seeing my martini order represented.

I anticipate this will age better in the context of the rest of the season.

It’s hard to watch Rishi like this and frankly it’s a dark harbinger of Harper’s future.

Another banger, but was looking for a tighter story after last week and as we head into the finale. Veridis Quo has been following me lately…

I needed a second before putting my thoughts down. They really twisted the knife and turned out this finale. The clarification of the class story at the heart of this entire show is deftly laid out. As the viewer, we’re brought away from the destruction of this particular season and centered back at home where everything feels all too familiar. Shout out to all the peasants just trying to survive!
