I have to get it out of the way — I’m from Worcester. Whatever place these people are in, it’s not that. The aesthetics are close, but not quite right, as are the accents; the place where this is most obvious is actually the casting because it misses the true socioeconomic underpinnings of the city by having the series fronted by white actors. That said, I think there’s a hell of a lot to love. Annie Murphy is crushing it and I’m surprisingly enthralled by Mary Hollis Inboden. The cinematography theatrics never get tired, which also shocked me. I’m looking forward to the back half of the series.
