It feels like this season was weirdly too focused on the craft of making good television episodes that it forgot how to make a good television season. In the end, it amounted to a collection of variably interesting vignettes with an inch of plot progression. For everything that happens, nothing happens. And it makes me wonder if we’ll get a fourth season sooner than expected — the work verges on intentionally flat enough to be setting that sort of surprise up.
