Like the Mitchells in the final season, this show stuck around a bit longer than it needed to. That said, we got some rich performances along the way, particularly from the supporting cast, that ameliorated my issues with the back half of the series. In the end, the show (and hospitality) is about a group of people, not one chef. And I think they forgot that in the middle while also trying to communicate that this was the source of tension propelling the story. I did love watching all the characters grow and develop through their side quests, but ultimately it felt unfocused. It all looked beautiful, but tighter story editing would’ve been beneficial—and honestly, it might’ve revealed that this should’ve continued down the path of being a film (or even a film series), rather than a television show.
